Your Questions About Cosmetic Procedures For Stretch Marks

James asks…

How can a girl get rid of stretch marks?

I have stretch marks on my bootie, and especially my lower back. I used to be slightly overweight and got them from that.
I’ve had stretchmarks for a while now and don’t know what to do about the nasty things. They really bother me!

Are there any cosmetic procedures that will get rid of stretch marks???

Thanks ya’ll!!!

You cant rid of stretch marks. But if you have red ones. You can get laser treatments to laser them

Betty asks…

Cosmetic surgeon for TCA peels on stretch marks?

Hi,
I am getting married in a few months and want to get rid of the stretch marks on my body which i got during my growing up years.
I have heard that TCA peels is a good remedy for stretch marks.
Has anyone undergone this cosmetic procedure and if so can you name a few Cosmetic surgeons in India who specialise in chemical peels based on experience ? .. coz i dont want to take risks with my skin

rachel answers:

There are no “cures” for stretch marks. Someone will become VERY rich if they ever find one! Maybe a tummy tuck would do the job.

Jenny asks…

stretch marks have got to go!?

hi, i got really terrible stretch marks when i was pregnant. covering my whole stomach to just under my breasts. im dreading my summer holiday as would want to wear a bikini. what procedures are there for removing stretch marks (cosmetic) none of the celebs have stretch marks (even those who have had twins) what do they get done thanks. :)
i dont want to use any creams, did and none worked i still got COVERED!!!. tummy tuck wudnt work as they are all over my belly. cant be possible that no celebs get stretch marks there not super human!
i agree with you elle, was worth it but its just depressing being covered in them and seeing other women who’ve had babies and dont even have 1!

rachel answers:

Celebrities do things like have elective caesarians at 8 months followed by tummy tucks and not eating for a few months to lose baby weight. I wouldn’t necessarily use them as role models in this department, if you don’t get paid for your looks. You can have laser surgery to remove stretch marks but research it very carefully if you do want to go down that path (incl “side effects of laser surgery” – you can end up with skin worse than you started with if it’s done wrong) and it’s not something I would try to go budget on… Creams for scar treatment will usually work on stretch marks (like bio oil) but it takes a long time and it only fades them it doesn’t make them go away completely.

Susan asks…

What to do for stretch marks?

My class is going on a trip to the pool in about 2 weeks. I hate the pool because I have stretch marks on my boobs, thighs, and the side of my mid section. It is probably impossible to completely remove them in such a sort amount of time but how can I make them fade or get rid of them (as much as possible within and after the time frame)?

no cosmetic procedures please…way too young for that

rachel answers:

There is a lot of stretch mark treatment available on the market these days. Some treatments are more effective in fading or even eliminating stretch marks, but the success of the treatment depends on a few different things. First of all is the color and age of the stretch marks. If they have faded to a flesh color they are much harder to heal. Second of all, ethnicity and heredity play a role in which creams, oils and other products or equipment will succeed in healing stretch marks.

The cheapest stretch mark treatment available is creams made especially for stretch marks. The most effective creams contain ingredients such as cocoa butter, lanolin and wheat germ oil. These creams actually heal and rebuild the damaged skin. While they may not be able to completely eliminate stretch marks, they may at least make the stretch marks fade to a barely visible scar. A good recommendation will be Palmer Cocoa Butter Cream.

Another popular & effective cream that you might wish to consider is Strivectin. It has a bioactive topical formula that has a combination of skin firming agents to reduce visible wrinkles and make skin appear firmer

Lizzie asks…

What procedures (cosmetic) can get rid of it or at least play down severely rosy cheeks that aren’t rosacea?

I have very rosy cheeks it’s genetic, my paternal grandmother was like it too though she loves her’s and I hate mine. They govern severely what colours I can die my hair what I can wear and even make me look way younger than what I am and makes me look like a sunburnt beetroot unless I cake my face in make up. I don’t want to get rid of them entirely but just make them not so over the top. I don’t want to end up looking like the cross between a vampire and a terminally ill person (no offence to pale people or terminally ill people… or.. vampires?) but I don’t want to look like a freaking beetroot either. So is there any cosmetic procedures that hopefully do not require needles as I have a phobia of them that can help pale them a bit so I don’t have to cover them with concealer before I put on my foundation each morning.

Also is there any procedures or tops for considerably healing stretch marks? Mine are horrible the back of my knees (though these arej’t too noticeable) between my thighs, my hips and even on my shoulders. Should I start usiing Bio Oil and keep it up. I used it for a while a few years back and it seemed to help but are there any procedures to visibly get rid of them? Also with hair removal I’ve heard of laser treatment that can stop hair on legs and underarms etc. Does this work? I wouldn’t get it done but out of curiosty?

rachel answers:

Quite a lot of questions, Beth (your name for now), but I’ll try to answer each one in turn.

First of all, on the rosy cheeks issue, women in the old days would put a mixture of lemon juice and chalk on their cheeks– the chalk provides quick whitening and the lemon leeches the pigment out of the skin. You can also try to stay indoors a lot, and wear a “guy fawks” mask outside (people will think it’s a political statement, and not question it).

For stretch marks, use coco butter, or a lotion that contains coco butter.

Yes, laser treatment works, and permanently removes hair. It is, however, expensive, and hair-removal creams are a much more economical option.
